This is Mount Kinabalu, on the island of Borneo, which is the third largest island in the world, behind Greenland and New Guinea. It’s bigger than Madagascar, which is massive. The Eyebrowed Jungle-flycatcher (below) is endemic to Borneo, and might have the greatest name of any bird, considering the mental image it provides, along with its confusing hyphenation and compound word choices. The Madagascan Flying Fox (below) is endemic to Madagascar, has a wingspan of up to five feet, uses hawk-like vision instead of echolocation, can fly 25 miles in one trip, and may be the most terrifying creature on planet Earth. flyingfox2 flyingfox1

I think I would not like to see one of these in person. Nothing that big and hairy should have anything that even comes close to resembling wings. I will now leave this page forever.
