Yon River
Jun 09, 2008 — 1 comment

The Missouri River is moving right along today. I’ve seen it higher, but not a whole lot. It’s been raining. The river is made of water and mud. The more rain there is, the more river there is. Today there is a lot of river.

My original intention was for this to be an in-depth entry on the greatness of Zdzisław Beksiński, a Polish painter who most people have never heard of, but whose work has influenced many many artists all over the world. I realized as I was sorting through images that any attempt to write about his work would really add nothing; the images he created are what is important, not what I have to say about them. He was a man of few words (his paintings never had titles), so I think it would be much more effective if I just post a few examples of his work and links (below) to a few sites where you can see more. He’s one of the greatest artists of all time.

He was murdered in 2005 by the son of one of his best friends, because he had refused to lend him money. Stabbed 17 times. Fantastic world we’re in here isn’t it?

Main Drain
Jun 03, 2008
Added another drawing to the 2D section, here. It’s the main drain in the building where I work. I said main drain. Also I’m just about finished with the large scale angel painting, progress of which was shown in this post. It looks a lot different now, which hopefully means it looks better. I will post the final image once it is ok’d by the person who commissioned it. The commissioner?
