Indian Head Medallion, Crater Lake

Here is the completed Indian Head Medallion sculpture, to be cast into stone and put on the facade of a building in Akron, Ohio. You have to use your imagination, once it’s cast the hard lines and surface imperfections will soften. I had to simplify and rework the details so they would be sturdy in the stone. There are going to be 7 of them, roughly 20 feet off the ground, so I intentionally forced the proportions so that it will look better when viewed from below.

Here is a cool picture of Crater Lake in Oregon:

Those pictures actually turned out pretty well, though it definitely looks better in person.

I love the depth of the eyes, and seriousness of the expression. I think the hardness of the lines is perfect for this image. I mean, if you spent all that time on the plains, in the sun, what would you look like?!? Not even to mention the peace pipe…..

This is a surreal picture of Crater Lake. I have been there and it is like no other lake I have been to.The captured red, setting sun is very cool. I love the Indian Medallion is very masterfully done and I am anxious to see the others as they are finished.
